IMPROVING STUDENT’S READING SKILL BY USING JEOPARDY GAME (An Experimental Study at The Tenth Grade of SMAN 1 Delima Grong-grong)

The objective of study was to find out that teaching reading skill by using jeopardy game can improve student’s reading skill. This research conducted at the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Delima Grong-Grong. The sample of this study were X IPA 1 class as control group and X IPS 1 as experimental group. To find the data, the researcher did experimental teaching for four meetings. The instrument used to collected the data in this research was a set of writen test, consisted of pre-test and post-test. It was aimed to find out the improvement of the students’ skill in mastering reading before and after using jeopardy game. The data show that, the mean score of pre-test the experimental group was 18,3 while the mean score of pre-test in control group was 27,08. The mean of score of post-test in experimental group was 58,5 while the mean score of post-test in control group was 52,08. Based that the result of t-test in experimental group was 7,50 while t-test in control group was 1,96. In this research null hypothesis was rejected and alternative hypothesis was accepted. It mean that the using jeopardy game in teaching reading skill significantly improve the students’ reading skill.
